Now Come Hear Us

It’s all about sound … of at least it will be at the next EFAMP monthly meeting.  So, join us at 6:30 PM on Thur, 5 Sep 2024 at the Satellite Beach Schecter Center, 1089 South Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach, Florida.  We’ll share our successes and failures in recording and post-processing sound for productions in the hopes that it will help our members avoid some of the pitfalls we’ve experiences.  We’ll also share tips and techniques that should improve any media effort, from smart phone videos to independent feature films.

Over the past two months, we’ve gotten several requests to provide a real, nuts-and-bolts-level session about field and indoor sound recording.  We’ve also entertained inquires about post-processing sound files for short films and role audition submissions.

At our September meeting, we’re providing a session specifically tailored to answer those needs.

Before we launch into the technical phase of the meeting, we’ll discuss the current outlook for EFAMP’s 2024/2025 Production Season.  Our intent is to maximize our upcoming slate to get as many people in front of the lens as possible and train as many on crew as we can.  So far, in 2024, we’ve made good progress.  We’re pushing to amplify that success further in the next six months.

The technical session will cover the commonalities with all boom and lav microphone setups and the most common DAWS and video editing suites.  Our examples will use Rode microphones and the specific settings for Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, and Davinci Resolve but the concepts will transfer to the equipment and software used by our members, whether they are based on Mac or PC systems.  We’re framing the session for setups with under $1000 in recording equipment that are post-produced with moderately powered computer workstations.

No plugins!

The session will not rely on any plugins.  Every technique we’ll cover is something that is embedded into the common software suites.  We’ll also review AI-assisted clean-up strategies and compare what is currently promised with this technology against the practical reality of using it in actual productions.

So, bring your curiosity and your notepads as this will be a technically heavy session.

We’ll also hold a virtual follow-on session in the following weeks for those that attend the in-person meeting.  This will be a training session for folks to employ the concepts we’ll cover in the live session.

Socializing will begin at 6PM and our content will play from 6:30-8PM.  We hope to see you there.

After the meeting, we’ll retire down the road for a quick bite to eat — and beer if you want to order it.

Q1 Mini-Shoots

Our equipment is tested and we’re now moving into the realm of mini-shoots.  Our goal is to train crew on the new equipment and provide talent with additional footage for their demo reels.

Contact us at Info@EFAMP.com if you’d like to be considered for crew or talent.

Upcoming Efforts

We are planning to shoot several of the projects in the near future to include A Light in the Dark, The Space Between Us All, The Investigation and one more.

If you are interesting in helping, learning, or both, come and join us! Should be a challenging and fun time!
